8. L'Isle sur la Sorgue

Often regarded as the prettiest of the Provence towns, L'Isle sur la Sorgue is a town and commune on the Sorgue river in southeastern France. The town is renowned for it waterside cafes, restaurants and markets along the picturesque banks of the Sorgue river and many attractive water wheels throughout the town are still in working order and used by artisan producers of oil, milled wheat, silk, paper, woolenry, rugs and dyeing. The town hosts two annual fairs which attract visitors from all over France is famous for its many antique shops and markets. A 5.5 hour drive from Le Belvedere it is a popular stopover on the way to Nice.
